SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF VARICOCELE
- Infertility
- Discomfort in the testicle
- Painless testicular lump
- Swelling in the testicle
CAUSES OF VARICOCELE
- Congenital absence of valves in the veins of the spermatic cord
- The congenital paucity of valves
- Venous dilatation
- Certain medications
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF VARICOCELE
Pathophysiology of varicocele is based on the cause of the disease. It forms when the valves inside the veins in the cord prevent the proper blood flow. The resulting backup causes the stasis of blood in the veins and it becomes dilated. This might cause damage to the testicle and result in decreased sperm production.
DIAGNOSIS OF VARICOCELE
- History taking
- Diagnosis through signs and symptoms
- Physical examinations
- Ultrasound scanning
TREATMENTS FOR VARICOCELE

- Surgical interventions
PROGNOSIS OF VARICOCELE

PURVAROOPAM- AYURVEDIC PREMONITORY SYMPTOMS OF VARICOCELE

SAMPRAPTI – AYURVEDIC PATHOGENESIS OF VARICOCELE
Due to Vataprakopaka nidanas (causative factors which increase vata)such as, physical exertion, straining, for debilitated persons the vitiated vata enters the Siras (veins) causing the Sampeedana (Squeezing), Sankocha (constriction), and Vishoshana (an act of drying up) which produces round and protruded Granthi (cyst) in the Siras (Veins) of the scrotum, manifesting Siragranthi (varicocele).

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, with the body relaxed. The patient has to close his one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
