Ayurvedic Treatment for digestive disorders like Burping addresses all possible causes and treats from the root cause and offers safe treatment. Burping is also known as belching which occurs during or after meals is normal and releases gas when the stomach is full of food. Sometimes a person with chronic belching may have an upper GI disorder, such as peptic ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or gastritis.

  • Proper history taking from the patient to find out the number of burping, during or after meals etc.
  • Underlying diseases like acid regurgitation, oesophageal and stomach ulcers can be diagnosed through endoscopic techniques.
  • Ultrasound scans
  • Maldigestion tests
  • Hydrogen and methane tests

BURPING AND AYURVEDA

  • Burpingis caused by the imbalance and blockage of Vata.
  • Typically, vata is meant to be passed down in the body (anulomagati), but if there’s any blockage in its flow, it starts moving upwards (pratilomagati), leading to burping.

  • In this disease mainly vata dosha is involved (vitiated).
  • Food that aggravates vata dosha like peas, dals, dry foods

HOME REMEDIES for Burping

  • Drinking water boiled with cumin seeds.
  • Mix freshly ground ginger root to one cup boiling water. Drink to ease burps.

 

DIET AND BEHAVIOUR for Burping

  • Avoid food items which produce vata dosha imbalance like cold, acrid, and dry food, hard to digest. Because vata dosha imbalance aggravates the symptoms.
  • Avoid chewing gums.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol and carbonated drinks.
  • Brush teeth using the powders of Charcoal, Pepper, Salt, Clove and Gairika.

 

YOGA for Burping

  • Nadi Shuddi Pranayam – cleans the airways

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, with the body relaxed. The patient has to close his one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.

Pavanamukthasana – removes the excess air from the digestive system
