Subconjunctival haemorrhage is the red spot or patch appearing on the white of the eye beneath the conjunctiva. It may vary in extent from small petechial haemorrhage to an extensive one spreading under the whole of the bulbar conjunctiva. This is also known as ecchymosis of the conjunctiva or red eye.

Subconjunctival haemorrhage may be associated with the above-mentioned conditions. Most of the time it is absorbed completely within 7to21 days. During absorption, colour changes are noted from bright red to orange then yellow. In severe cases, some pigmentation may be left behind after absorption.

Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
