The pathophysiology of uterine polyps is based on the causative factor. The repeated cell division in the internal layer of the uterus occurs. It is the major cause of heavy bleeding. Any process that interferes with the normal endocrine, paracrine or hemostatic functions of the endometrium as well as possibly any interference with myometrial contractility may also cause heavy bleeding. Uterine polyps grow in response to circulating estrogen.

  • Heavy bleeding is the major symptom of polyps. Hence it is treated based on the ‘Asrigdhara chikilsa”.
  • It is of 4 types – vata, pitta, kapha, sannipatha

NIDANA- AYURVEDIC CAUSES OF UTERINE POLYPS

  • Excess consumption of sour, acrid, unwholesome food

SAMPRAPTI – AYURVEDIC PATHOGENESIS OF UTERINE POLYPS

Due to the causative factors, excess vitiation of doshas occurs along with mamsa and raktadhatu . The vitiation of mamsa dhatu causes growths in the uterus. When the vitiated doshas reside in the uterus further aggravates rakta dhatu, asrigdhara manifested.

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, with the body relaxed. The patient has to close his one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.

  • Savasana – relaxes body and mind
